BAMONA, Wikipedia

Sources for butterfly and moth host plant information primarily at the genus level include; The National Wildlife Federation's Native Plant Finder, with thanks to Doug Tallamy and Kimberley Shropshire for researching and sharing this information, the National History Museum's Database of the World's Lepidopteran Hostplants, and Butterflies and Moths of North America. Special thanks to Calscape volunteer Bridget Kelley for her tireless work aggregating host plant data from all these sources. Butterfly and moth observations in California were provided through iDigBio, the Symbiota Collections of Arthropods Network and Butterflies and Moths of North America; together aggregating the digitized georeferenced observations of  approximately 5300 butterfly and moth species in California from the collections of 44 universities and other institutions around the world. Butterfly and moth images from the collections of 89 photographers were provided with the invaluable help of Calphotos, and from digitized university and museum collections through iDigBio and the Symbiota Collections of Arthropods Network. Climate data is provided by the PRISM Climate Group, Oregon State University, using 30 year (1981-2010) annual normals at an 800 meter spatial resolution. This data is interpolated to estimate climate measurements for the latitude and longitude of each butterfly and moth occurrence, and to estimate minimum and maximum climate measurements for each square mile in California.
