Dara's Choice Sage
Salvia 'Dara's Choice'

About Dara's Choice Sage (Salvia 'Dara's Choice') 9 Nurseries Carry This Plant Hybrid of Salvia sonomensis and other undetermined Salvia species, possibly Salvia mellifera. This slow-growing sage bush displays lavender flowers. The shrub can be excellent in pots or naturalized to the landscape and provides a 3 ft' span that slowly grows outward. The leaves are a darker green than the average sage's, providing a natural backdrop for the flowrs that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and pollinators. A continually flowering sage that needs little water and is very drought tolerant. Can do well being placed in rougher soils to provide color.

Hybrid; origin = seedling (1972) s. Sonomensis x s. ?, UC Davis; intro santa Barbara Botanic Garden 1979 Grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Prefers sun in coastal sites, and sun or part shade in inland sites. Selected for the garden.
Introduced by santa Barbara Botanic Garden. Hybrid of Salvia mellifera x s. Sonomensis.
